Title: Tradescantia Spathacea 'Variegated Dwarf'
Medium: Digital Photography
Photographer: Aaron J. Greenblatt
Camera Type: Panasonic DMC-LZ7 Lumix 7.2 MP
Editing: Edited in PhotoShop 7.0 for color accuracy, size, and to apply copyright and border.

Location: Photograph taken at the University of Michigan-Dearborn (UMD) greenhouse which is attached to the Science Building on the UMD campus in Dearborn, Michigan.

Permission to take this picture was granted by Dr. Don Miller, faculty member in the Department of Natural Sciences at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

Description: This interesting plant was growing in the greenhouse. Its purple-tinged leaves made it stand out amongst the other green foliage. One of the things that I like best about the plants in the greenhouse is the wide variety and types of leaves and leaf structures that can be found there. As you can see in this image, especially on the left, all sorts of leaves co-mingle together to form a lush tropical leafy paradise.

About Tradescantia Spathacea: Tradescantia Spathacea is an ornamental perennial succulent herb, native to Tropical Central America. This dwarf variegated cultivar of Tradecantia bermudensis ‘Variegata’ is sterile and non-seeding, thus propagated by division of its rhizomes or offsets.

Woah. It's like something came from my imagination. Y'see I recently turned my room into a feng shui theme. As an added project I'll do a wall mural on the biggest space I can paint. I'll try to keep the description short...

It has a silouetted wall made from parchment. The painting consists of dark, vibrant, and underwater plant life. If somebody steps into the room it looks like they're viewing outdoors. The highly unlikely part is it looks like a garden from a fuedal japanese home. The setting is meant to be a dark sky to give the painting an underwater look. Maybe I'll add floating bubbles, flying fish, land and sky animals to add to the surreality.
