Location: Photograph taken at the 2008 Spring Bead Bonanza Show in Southfield, Michigan.

Description: These beads were for sale at the show. The beads on the left are made out of some type of nut material (like tagua nut) and the beads on the right are made out of some type of bone material - perhaps a type of dark ivory. The contrast between the two types of beads is striking. I am particularly fond of the nut beads. I find their coloration and pattern to be very interesting. I've never seen beads like these before. The dealer was from the Dominican Republic and wasn't too keen to answer my questions regarding the origin of the material she was selling - that is, aside from telling me it was from Africa.
