Location: Photograph taken at the 2007 Fall Bead Bonanza Show in Southfield, Michigan.

Description: There were thousands of strands of freshwater pearls for sale at the show. These ones caught my eye for their striking peachy-orange color. Pearls can be dyed any color of the rainbow. In nature, they typically occur in only a few colors - mostly whites, ivories, and some metallic or black colors. The strings you see towards the bottom of the image are what the pearls are strung on. They are very fine and almost wispy. The holes in the pearls are very tiny so fine string must be used to string them. Imagine trying to thread that string through each pearl. Someone has some serious patience.
