Title: Copper Uses
Medium: Digital Photography
Photographer: Aaron J. Greenblatt
Camera Type: Panasonic DMC-LZ7 Lumix 7.2 MP
Editing: Edited in PhotoShop 7.0 for color accuracy, size, and to apply copyright and border.

Location: Photograph taken at the 2007 63rd Annual Greater Detroit Gem, Mineral, Fossil & Jewelry Show in Warren, Michigan.

Description: Copper can be used for all sorts of things and this particular show display provides examples of some of those uses. This display also provides some examples of natural copper formations. The material called Mohawkite (at the top of the image) is only found here in Michigan. This picture really doesn't do the material justice because Mohawkite has a unique brassy color that's between copper and silver.

About Mohawkite: Mohawkite is a mixture of algodonite, domeykite and arsenic-rich copper. It's found as a natural native material in the Mohawk Mine in Keweenaw County, Michigan. Unfortunately, because of its arsenic content it shouldn't be used in jewelry that comes into contact with the skin. Otherwise, I could see it becoming quite fashionable.

More Michigan copper can be seen here. (Copper Display deviation)
